Chieh-san Cheng ||

Chairman of Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST)

Chieh-san Cheng served as the CEO and President of GST for 30 years until October 2020. Before founding GST, Cheng worked for a number of aerospace and technology companies that provided technical services to NASA, NOAA, and DOD. He subsequently developed a working knowledge of many aspects of the space technology industry, and in 1990, founded GST with the intention of providing a stimulating work environment within a family-friendly company. Cheng’s open door policy and commitment to honesty and integrity has made GST unique, successful, and strong. GST has received national and international recognition. In October 2003, GST received the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s Contractor of the Year Award for Small Business/Service. Cheng himself also has had noted success, receiving the “Minority Enterprise Development Small Business Person of the Year Award” by the Washington District Small Business Administration in November 1999, the first “National Award of Overseas Chinese Enterprises” by the Minister of Economics of Taiwan in September 1999, and 2004. Cheng has a Master’s degree in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University and another in Meteorology from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Britt Lundgren

Britt Lundgren is an Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of North Carolina Asheville, specializing in studies of galaxy evolution that combine large ground-based spectroscopic surveys of distant galaxies and quasars with space-based observations in the infrared. After completing her PhD at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Britt held postdoctoral research appointments at Yale and the University of Wisconsin Madison and an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellowship at the National Science Foundation. While at the NSF she worked with the education leadership from numerous federal science agencies on projects aiming to increase participation, diversity, and outcomes for students in STEM fields. Since 2016 she has served as Co-Chair of Education and Public Outreach for the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV Collaboration and is currently Chair of the Advisory Board for NASA's North Carolina Space Grant.

Terry R. McPherson (Captain, U.S. Navy, Retired)

Terry McPherson recently retired as a Senior Consultant in support of NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), formerly the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina.  He was responsible for strategic planning, budget formulation and execution, and supporting the transition of applied science to operations.  

Mr. McPherson had a distinguished 28-year naval career that included a wide variety of executive and command positions in Meteorology, Oceanography and Hydrography. Following his naval career, he was NASA Stennis Space Center’s Deputy Director for Applied Science.
