In coordination with Aerospace Corporation and Destination SPACE, Inc. are offering a hands-on STEM Space Camp to high school students in El Segundo, California August 3-7 2020.
This five-day camp is able to provide an engaging, hands-on technical education opportunity for students from backgrounds underrepresented in STEM fields. The camp will be hosted in person at the Dining Room A&B at the main Aerospace Corporation building.
Destination Aerospace Camp will focus on the following: fundamentals of electronics, satellite engineering, data analytics, climatology, and remote sensing. Students will be part of teams that each build, test, and solder their own JiggyBots and CricketSats. Students are able to launch the CricketSats on a weather balloon and collect data on-site. Students are able to analyze and report the data they collect from their weather stations. Students do not have to have prior knowledge in these fields in order to participate. The Destination Aerospace Team leaders will gladly walk each student step-by-step through each activity and topic!
Students will gain a solid foundation of research experience and leadership skills along with establishing a professional network. We aim that through this camp, it will contribute to their confidence to pursue education and careers in the STEM fields.
